Ashley-Luisa Santangelo, Research Assistant

Santangelo served as a Coordinator at the Lesbian Herstory Archives from  2016 to 2019. She co-curated the By the Force of Our Presence exhibition at the New-York Historical Society, and graduated with an honors BA in Latin American Art History from Hunter College in 2018.

Elvis Bakaitis, Project Lead

Bakaitis is currently the Interim Head of Reference at The Graduate Center Library. They are a Coordinator at the Lesbian Herstory Archives, and a board member for CLAGS: The Center for LGBTQ Studies. Bakaitis holds an MLIS from Queens College and a Certificate in Geriatric Care Management from the Brookdale Center for Healthy Aging at Hunter College.

Sylvia Gilbert, Project Inspiration

This project was inspired by Sylvia Gilbert (1914-2016), the author’s beloved grandmother. Gilbert traveled widely throughout the United States in her twenties, alongside her husband during World War II, living in Alabama, Wyoming, Arizona, Texas, Tennessee, and other states.
